Liverpool to secure Tottenham's Keane on £80,000-a-week

Tottenham striker Robbie Keane is expected on Merseyside today.

The Guardian says Keane will undergo a medical today and his £20m move from Tottenham Hotspur may be completed in time for the forward to make his debut for his boyhood heroes in Liverpool's friendly in Spain against Villarreal on Wednesday.

Liverpool have offered the Republic of Ireland captain a five-year contract worth £80,000 a week and negotiations continued throughout the weekend after Tottenham reluctantly agreed to sell Keane, who scored 80 goals in 197 Premier League appearances during six years at White Hart Lane, on Friday evening.

How to Buy a Good Pair of Shoes

The shoes you wear every day can affect the health of your feet, your knees, your back, and all the way up the spine. Choose a quality pair of shoes that provides the support your arches need.

Steps

  1. Pick shoes that do not provide ankle support, since they may be better for everyday use. Wearing basketball shoes or high-tops regularly could weaken the ankles.
  2. Pick a pair of shoes that does not narrow too much in the middle of the outsole. The bottom of running shoes looks like a footprint, which does not provide stability.
  3. Pick a style with material that breathes or a design with perforations that will not trap moisture.
  4. Bend the front of the shoe upwards. Only the front third should bend up. The rear two-thirds of the shoe should be strong and difficult to bend.
  5. Grab the shoe at the front and back and try to twist it (by rotating your hands in opposite directions). The shoe should not be easily distorted or deformed.
  6. Press against the counter (the back spine of the shoe) and squeeze the sides of the counter, which support the heel, to check that they are strong and not easily deformed.
  7. Ask for a measurement of your foot size. To check, remove the insole and compare it against your foot. The insole should be longer by about the width of your thumbnail. If one foot is slightly bigger than the other, accommodate the larger foot.
  8. Check the stitching for quality, especially along the baseline, inside and out. (Demo pairs are typically of low quality.)
  9. Give the shoes a test drive. Reject the design if your foot rolls outword or either heel lifts out. Although some materials like leather will stretch over time, too much tightness can cause discomfort over long durations.
  10. Cautiously walk on a linoleum or vinal surface outside the store to make sure the shoes don't squeak or slip. Squeakiness depends on the texture and material of the outsole and is a result of friction with laminate flooring. In contrast, insufficitient friction is dangerous. A good pair of shoes can deliver both safety and quiet.

How to Find the Perfect Shoes

Find the perfect shoes!

Steps

  1. Go into the first shoe shop you see and look around. Look for a pair of shoes that you think look nice!
  2. See how high they are! Consider if you can walk in heels, how comfy they will be etc.
  3. Look at the price, and think about how much you are willing to spend!
  4. If they have passed all of those points, try them on. Walk around in them.
  5. Make sure they fit perfectly. If they rub even a tiny bit, put them back and keep looking. If they are hard to walk in, keep looking.
  6. If they have passed all of these points, look in a mirror and see how they look. Walk and see if you can walk normally and easily in them.
  7. Look at the colour. If they are white, will they get scuffed and dirty easily? What are they made out of and will they be easy to clean?
  8. Think about how you'll look in an important situation in front of a cute guy/girl.
  9. If they pass all of these points, buy them and take pride in wearing your perfect shoes!

Tips

  • Try to find a store with a lot of shoe products to choose from.
  • Make sure to purchase the right style of shoe for the occasion you are buying them for. If you are planning on going to a yoga class, for example, sneakers would be acceptable, but pumps would not.

Warnings

  • Never buy shoes just because you like them straight away, always ask a friend or family member if they look right on you.

How to Select Shoes to Wear With an Outfit

This season is all about shoe statements, from laid back flats to high-heel elegance. Shoes are the surest way to capture a fashion moment and with such an assortment of colors, prints and styles, there is a shoe for every outfit. So, how do you select shoes to wear with an outfit?

Steps

  1. Consider the different types of shoes:
    • Stilettos- The ultimate sexy shoes that never go out of style. Stilettos go great with sleek clothes, pencil skirts or slim trousers. For a polished look, wear sleek strappy stilettos with a classic tailored pantsuit.
    • Wedges- There’s a wedge for every female this season. Wedges go perfect with jeans, slinky skirts and full sweep sundresses, and they are also more comfortable than stilettos. This summer's stylish slimming bootcut jeans are a sure favorite with wedges, or step out in style with this summer's newest trendy gauchos. Wedges can be relaxed and casual when made of fabric, suede, or other coarsely textured materials, but can also dress up when crafted of high finish leathers or metallic leathers. Wedge pumps, wedge sandals, wedge boots; take your pick of different shoes with wedge heels, some with platforms as well.
    • Platforms- For those who want to stand out, a chunky heel is ultra-leg flattering. These high performers made the biggest news on the runway this season. For those who are "full figured" or a bit on the heavy side, platforms provide balance for your form and help round out your look.
    • Platforms go great with cuffed shorts, flare leg pants, and miniature bubble skirts. Try a slim-heel-platform with a suit or a soft silhouette evening dress for a touch of elegance.
    • Kitten heels- These heels are timeless and go with just about everything. Kitten heels work with both office attire and evening attire. They are the practical alternative to high-heels. Perfect for dressing up with a slinky and elegant skirt or dressed down with casual capris. The perfect go-to-shoes for day or night.
    • Sandals- “The It Shoe" of the season. Sandals are stylish and fun this season. They add a cool elegance to any casual look. They go perfect with skinny jeans, short skirts as well as this summer's newest cuffed, cropped pants. Add a touch of romance with a triple-tired peasant dress or a flowing ankle length skirt.
    • Mules- Step out in sophistication with mules and an elegant flowing skirt. These simple and versatile shoes have endless possibilities. Paired with twill pants or elegant georgette pants, is this seasons new take on feminine style.
    • Boots- Boots are very universal, they can go with jeans, skirts, dresses, and more.
    • Sneakers- The ultimate comfort shoe. However, be careful when picking sneakers for an outfit, they should be reserved for jeans or sweatpants.
    • Flats- Flats are very comfortable, and they never go out of style. Ballet flats can be worn with almost anything, from dresses to jeans to sweats, they always look good.
    • Loafers- A nice business-y shoe. They look great with pantsuits, jeans, and sometimes skirts.
  2. Consider the weather, and season.
    • During the summer, choose a summery shoe. Espadrilles and sandals are excellent choices.
    • In the winter when it's snowing and raining, boots are always good choices. If it's just cold, a simple pump, loafer, or flat works as well.
    • Spring, ah spring. Spring is very universal time for shoes, summery sandals and espadrilles are worn, but if you go outside wearing boots, you probably won't look crazy either. This a time where almost all of your shoe wardrobe can be worn.
    • Fall is also a fairly universal time as well. The only thing I would suggest staying away from are sandals and espadrilles, as fall is a time where things are cooling down a bit, and sandals and the like are a little summery. If you can make it work though, go crazy!
  3. Take a look at your outfit:
    • If you're wearing brown tweed pants and a burgandy sweater, those bright yellow pumps might clash a bit. Maybe a simple loafer? Are you wearing a red bracelet? A pair of red shoes would look simply smashing. Pick bits of color, and try to bring them out with your shoes. However, don't wear a purple top with purple pants and purple shoes. You'll probably look crazy.
    • How dressy is it? Is it just jeans and a t-shirt? Then just some sneakers are fine, but any shoe nwill do. Are you wearing a dress? Go with flats or heels. Are you wearing a floor length ball gown? Go with heels.
  4. Go with whatever looks good to you if all else fails. These are more or less guidelines, so if you think sneakers with a dress is the next big thing, go for it!

Tips

  • Pointy toes elongate the leg, which can make you look taller and slimmer. Remember, your toes don't get pushed all the way to the end!
  • Thin heels also make you look taller and thinner, while chunky heels make you look stumpier.

Warnings

  • Don't choose shoes that are uncomfortable for you. It will most likely cause foot damage.

Handbag

Handbag

The handbag is the most important accessory in your wardrobe. In choosing a handbag, purchase a neutral shade or multicolored that will go most of your wardrobe. It doesnt have to match each of your outfit but there should be some coordination. The style and the size is your choice as long as it will carry what you need.

Leather bags in tan, black, brown are good for day time use. A small simple silk envelope bag is best for evening affairs. Purchase the best handbag you can find. Youll be using it several times, so it should last long. Find one with two separate compartments. At least one of the compartments should have security closures. Some things that you put inside your handbags are lipstick, compact powder with mirror, wallet, keys, brush, eye shadow, mascara, eye liner, tissues, sewing kit with small scissors and mini pill box. Never carry loose powder in your handbag.

When using a tote bag, it should be simple and light weight. They are good in carry extra things you need. In keeping the contents accessible, you can separate then in a zipper top plastic bag. There are nice tote bags you can purchase for summer use. The pretty, nice baskets with shoulder straps or handles are available in most stores.

How to Select a Handbag that Accentuates your Physique

By Susan M. Keenan

The accessories that we include with our outfit are just as important as the clothes themselves. Other people tend to notice these things, especially women.

If we are trying to capture someones attention, especially a mans, then we want the mans eye to be drawn to one of our best features. The size and style of our purse can be a critical decision in this process. The place where the handbag meets our body determines where the eyes will be drawn to look.

The handbag should not be glaringly different from the rest of the outfit, but rather it should blend with it. It should also be spacious enough that it can hold all of the items that we will be carrying with us. Optimally, the color and design of your handbags should be versatile enough to go with more than one outfit.

Tips for selecting the right bag to accentuate your physique:

If your body type is overly abundant from the waist down, then the best strategy for you is to select a small purse with a short strap. This type tucks in nicely under the arm, draws the observers eye upward, and doesnt add any to the lower half.

If your body type is generously endowed on the upper half, then a larger bag with a longer strap that takes the attention away from your bosom will do nicely.

For the thin and sleek body, a large, floppy type of bag will add a little something to your look. Any bulky type of handbag will also help to add a new dimension.

For the well endowed everywhere body frame, a smaller bag with a hint of color or a subtle pattern may do the trick. You may want to use a purse that has a short to medium length strap. This way, you can focus the attention to the upper half of your body rather than the full view.

For that perfect hourglass body (and yes, wouldnt I love to have one of those), you have a multitude of choices. Anything goes for this woman, as long as it goes with the outfit!

Keep in mind that you have already placed a big investment in time and money into the selection of your outfit. Maximize its effect by taking care with the accessories that you add. Remember that a perfect outfit coupled with perfect accessories equals a perfectly eye appealing portrait of you.

Before You Buy Desktop Computer Systems

By Mark Kyrnin, About.com

Looking to buy a new desktop personal computer system? This guide covers many of the basic items to examine when comparing desktop computer systems so that you can make an informed purchasing decision. Due to the changing nature of the PC Hardware industry, this guide will be periodically updated. Links are provided below each topic for a more detailed discussion on that subject.

Processors (CPUs)

Processor choices are a bit more difficult now then they were before. It is still really a choice between an AMD and an Intel processor. The difference really comes in how many cores there are in the processor and its relative speed. Each company now has a performance rating system that isn't really easy to compare. Due to the complexity, its best to refer to my links below for a more detailed explanation of CPUs for budget and uses.
  • Understanding Desktop CPUs
  • Best Desktop Processors

Memory (RAM)

Most desktop computers now use a type of memory called DDR2. Some high performance ones might use DDR3, but this is quite expensive. Avoid systems using the older DDR memory standard. In terms of amount, it is best to have at least 1GB of memory in the system and preferably 2GB. Memory speeds can impact performance as well. The faster the memory, the better the performance should be. When buying memory, try to buy as few DIMMs as possible to allow for future memory upgrades if needed.

Hard Drives

Hard drives really boil down to size and speed. The larger the drive and the faster, the better the performance and capacity. In a desktop, it is best to have at least 250GB or more of storage space these days. In terms of speed, they are pretty much all running at 7200rpm now. A few high performance 10,000rpm drives are available. Most drives use the Serial ATA interface now for ease of installation. Performance wise, there is little difference still between Serial ATA and the older IDE standards.

Optical Drives (CD/DVD)

Most systems sold now feature DVD burners, even the budget systems. It is best to make sure that you get a multiformat DVD burner that can support both the +R/RW and -R/RW formats. Speeds should be 16x for the recordable speed. Dual or Double Layer media support is also a common feature although less likely to be used due to media cost. If you don't need a DVD burner, try to at least get a CD-RW/DVD combo drive of 24x recording speed to allow for CD media storage and DVD playback. Options also include LightScribe or Labelflash support for burning labels directly to compatible media.

Video Cards

Video card technology seems to change every three to six months. If you aren't really doing any 3D graphics at all, then integrated graphics may be just fine. Beyond this, there are a wide selection of cards. Things to consider include performance, the amount of memory on the card, output connectors and the version of Direct X supported. Those looking to do any gaming should really consider a Direct X 10 card with at least 256MB of memory onboard. Pretty much all new systems will use the PCI-Express graphics standard.

Extrenal Connectors

Many upgrades and peripherals to computers now connect through external interfaces instead of internal cards. Check to see how many and what type of external ports are available on the computer for use with future peripherals. Look for systems that have both USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394 or FireWire ports. It should have at least six USB 2.0 connectors and one FireWire ports. Many times media card readers that support various different flash memory cards for peripherals are also inlcluded.

Monitors

What good is a desktop PC unless it also has a monitor? Previously users would need to choose between a CRT or LCD monitor, but LCDs are pretty much the standard now because of their reduced size and power consumption. The real issue is more about size and cost of the LCDs. The price difference between 17 and 19-inch models make 19-inch the best overall value although 20 to 22-inch models are quickly dropping in price. Wider display screens are also becoming much more common than the tradition 4:3 aspect ratio.
